At some point in life, we may all be faced with challenging situations and find ourselves in need of a helping hand. When you make a gift to the WE Care Fund, you are helping your fellow colleagues by helping them to evacuate, rebuild, and recover from times of crisis. Your tax-deductible gift makes a direct and lasting impact on the lives of those impacted by financial hardship.
All donations made by U.S. associates may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed. Donations from Canadian associates may not be tax deductible to the associate unless he/she has U.S. earnings during the contribution year. In addition, any donations outside of North America, we would recommend a consultation between the employee and their tax preparer. The tax deductibility may vary by country laws. Wells Fargo encourages you to reach out to your tax professional to get further clarification regarding the tax status of your contribution.
Who is E4E Relief?
E4E Relief is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Foundation For The Carolinas, a 501(c)(3) public charity. With more than a decade of experience serving clients across the United States, E4E Relief is the nation's leading provider of employee disaster and hardship funds.
Can I designate my contribution to a specific employee?
While gifts cannot be designated for a specific individual or event, they do guarantee funds are available to provide assistance to employees in need who meet the criteria of the program.
Are my gifts to the fund tax-deductible? Will I get a statement at the end of the year?
US Donations: A donation to the Employee Relief Fund administered by E4E Relief may be tax-deductible, provided no goods or services were received in exchange for the donation. A gift acknowledgment will be provided for all gifts, $250 or more, made directly to the Fund via E4E Relief. Cash gifts, depending on the amount, may or may not require a receipt for tax purposes. Please check with your tax advisor for more information. To claim contributions made via payroll deductions, the donor should retain their pledge/sign-up form along with their final paystub or W-2 reflecting the deductions.
International Donations: Donations from International associates may not be tax deductible to the associate unless he/she has U.S. earnings during the contribution year. Associates outside of the US and Canada may be liable for taxes on the grant received. This will vary by country and is the responsibility of the associate to report. Grants to US and Canadian associates from WE Care are non-taxable to the associate. Wells Fargo encourages you to reach out to your tax professional to get further clarification regarding the tax status of your contribution.
Do I need to give to be eligible to apply for assistance from the Relief Fund?
Gifts to the Relief Fund are voluntary and are not required to apply for assistance.
If I receive payment from the fund, do I have to pay back the fund?
These grants are not loans and do not have to be repaid. In some circumstances, approved funds are paid directly to the vendor(s) to whom the associate owes payment. After a disaster, grants may be provided to associate for basic expenses, such as temporary shelter, clothing, food, transportation expenses, and other necessities that are not immediately provided by emergency community services or insurance.
If awarded, how much will my grant be?
Grant amounts vary based on the nature of the event and related expenses. The maximum grant award varies based on the location of the associate and the currency exchange rate. All grants are determined in USD and will be distributed to the associate in their local currency. Maximum award amounts will vary based on the individual circumstances, including event type, expenses requested, and the location of the employee.
